AIPI project
What is AIPI ?
A project of support to initiatives by food producers for responsible intensification
The support to initiatives by food producers for responsible intensification project (AIPI) was launched by the Foundation for World Agriculture and Rural life (FARM) to help African farmers respond to the food crisis.
The AIPI project : support to initiatives by food producers for responsible intensification aims to contribute to an increase in local food production by facilitating access to production resources and an efficient use of inputs.
It is aid which is urgent,
it is long term,
it is based on a partnership with organised groups of farmers,
it includes training and support,
it aims to create transferable benchmarks.
The initiative is starting with four cases in order totake advantage of the farming season which is beginning, apply the method and assess the impact.
The project is led by a small group of experienced agronomists who are independent of donors.
This group has set selection and assessment criteria for the projects. These criteria are :
The existence of a request from a group of producers ;
The acknowledged experience of the group ;
Attainable targets for increases in production ;
The existence of marketing prospects.
Implementation method : FARM enters into a contract with the group.
